I was preparing for a session tomorrow, and I noticed a pronounced ringing on the 1st and 3rd strings of my Kline. Bad strings was my first thought. So, in changing the 3rd, I buffed out the top of the finger. Looked good. Tune up. Still ringing. Take the string off, and I set to buff a little more. Not a lot, just a little. I start to buff, and I notice that the finger is moving slightly back and forth. That's whats doin' the ringing right? The top of the finger is in good shape. Not out of round. I really just polished it. There's a very slight string groove, but even if I move the string off center a little, so it's not in the groove, it still rings. I think the finger's worn out. It shouldn't be sloppy. Bummer! JB

Can you swap it with a finger that does not pull a string?
Or maybe you can turn the axel 180 degrees?
It could also be a bad string.

I'm not gonna be able to work on this Kline. Rack and barrel Bud, no problem, but this one? No way. I've never had a problem with this guitar in the 20 years that I've owned it. I've only had to tune a couple of pedals a couple of times in all these years of playing. Great guitar! Maybe it is the shaft that's worn. It's a brassy color, but it's probably bronze. That's pretty hard stuff. The fingers are most likely aircraft-grade aluminum. I don't know which would wear first. Joe Kline lives not too far away. I guess I'll call him. But I still have a session tomorrow, and the guitar doesn't sound too good. JB
