500k replacment pot

Post by Stuart Docherty »

Hi,

Looking for a little guidance… I have an Ernie Ball VP JR volume pedal and while understanding that not many people think fondly of these things, I have to play to suit the conditions…

I had a mind to replace the 250k pot with a 500k, so managed to buy a 470k dunlop pot, which cost a bomb here in australia, as most things do..

Unfortunately, it was scratchy, so out it came and the original 250k went back in, but I liked the sound of the 470k, but I don't want to be shelling out great wads of cash, hoping to find a dunlop that is okay.

Does anyone have any alternative, possibly affordable, 500k pot options…?
Beyond whatever is on the shelf at radioshack, unless that is an option…?

cheers,

Stuart.

The Radio Shack IS an option, but they usually don't last long: between weeks and a year.
2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

Stuart

I have a spare Allen Bradley type J 500k pot (new). You can open them, clean them, lube them etc. etc. and they go a long time if you look after them.
Just PM or email me and get in touch. I'm near Dalby Qld.

I just received (2) pots from Kevin @ Goodrich. goodrichvp@gmail.com
I got his number from Jim.
They were only $25 ea. and had pigtails already soldered on so it was a quick swap. Great service and super guys to work with.

Any Ham Radio swap meets in Oz? Great for parts, and old chassis that might have the pot you're looking for. I used to get great tubes and parts at swap meets!
Dr. Z Surgical Steel amp, amazing!
"74 Bud S-10 3&6
'73 Bud S-10 3&5(under construction)
'63 Fingertip S-10, at James awaiting 6 knees
'57 Strat, LP Blue
'91 Tele with 60's Maple neck
Dozen more guitars!
Dozens of amps, but SF Quad reverb, Rick Johnson cabs. JBL 15, '64 Vibroverb for at home.
