At one time there was a steel player who used a change that went from either a 6th string G#- A-- A# or it was a B- C#-- D it may have been Emmons or Day or Weldon, help me out here at tell me what it was and what it was used for

Bill, it strikes me that you might be referring to the counterpoint lick using the second string raising a half step at a time as the 5th string is descending in half steps in conjunction with the second string steps. Could that be what you are referring too? I could help you if that is it or a number of other guys could also.

I think that, at one time, Jimmy Day raised his 5th string to D.

There was a trend about 20 yrs ago, where a knee lever raised the 5th string a tone and a half. And this would match one of the descriptions you sighted I believe; if they used it in comination with the A pedal.

Also, I seem to recall maybe Pete Drake had that change on his PSG for given licks. Not sure. At any rate it never caught on because I have rarely seen it since.

Jerry I have that change on now have had for years. B0b I think you hit the nail square on the head. If I remember right the A pedal raised it to the C# and a knee lever took it to the D ok Thanks for the help maybe I can learn to play something now
