Hi All! Just joined the forum and want to say I am in awe of you guys (and gals) and the passion you have for this music! I am 70, just retired, and played guitar (not steel) until I had some surgery and injuries that keep me from playing like I used to. I have always loved steel, so here I go. Hope I can pick up some pointers that will help me get er done. 8)

Welcome, Wayne.
Where in NY are you? From '74-'78, I lived and worked in the Oneida County (and Herkimer/Onondaga Counties) area as a "guest" of my old Uncle Sam. I enjoyed my time there, and belonged to a couple of volunteer fire departments before I got reassigned to a base in NH. I haven't been back to NY since an old friend from my AF days got married near Rochester in '94.

I think you'll find lots of good info here.

Welcome to the forum. I'm new to steel guitar as well. Just learning how to play on a double neck 8 sting console steel I recently acquired. I'm about 1 week now as a new member and finding lots of great info.

What model guitar are you learning on? - Keith

Hi guys: thanks for the welcome.

Doug: I am east of Buffalo between Batavia and Rochester - a small town called Alden.

Keith: I am using an entry-level until I decide where I am going - a Rogue. I took acoustic guitar lessons in Irvington (Newark), NJ a long time ago from a guy named George Kroll. From what I could find out back then, George designed one of the first triple-neck pedal steels and worked in the musical group that produced the music for the movie "Blue Hawaii" with Elvis. George played all over the east coast. I always thought that was way above my head, so this is a dream for me.
