Here's another one for the new lap steel song book. A6 tuning, 6 strings, basic melody, classic Country. Hope you like it.

Hi, Doug

Sure enjoyed the new upload; always find your arrangements and playing clean and helpful to those of us who are still squeezing our tonebars across the room.

All the best,

Steve

It's the usual perfect Beaumier intonation, smooth execution and impeccable blocking. The fabulous tone of that new Rickenbacher adds a whole new layer of goodness.

Parenthetical note: I just noticed for the first time that "Waltz Across Texas" has a line that's identical to "I do hope that doggie's for sale" from "How much is that doggie in the window?"

Doug,
I emailed you a week or so with a few questions about lap steel, I have a Sierra 8 coming next week. I like to know if your coming out with an 8 string book? Your "Ghost Riders in The Sky" just gets me.

Sounds great Doug...I really like the tone when you go to the lower register.
Have you tried playing your Ric through any dirt?

Thanks for the replies. The lap steel is a pre-war Ric bakelite. It's the guitar version with a round neck, and a raised nut on it.
Steve, I'm playing through a black box, a volume pedal, and a reverb. I haven't tried any distortion with this yet, but I'm sure it would sound really good.
Mark, no plans for an 8-string book at this time. Thanks for listening.

Thanks, George. Yes, there have been quite a few two chord hits, like Jambalaya, Tulsa Time, Memphis. Chain of Fools by Aretha Franklin only had one chord! 8)

Ah c'mon Doug, have you never been tempted to get some of those classic NWA tunes down on steel? It would certainly inspire an interesting discussion on tunings!

Thanks, yes, 16 songs this time, 3 tunings: C6, A6, B11. The songs are all recorded and I'm mixing them now. The tablature is completed. I need to finish mixing and mastering the songs and then mix the 16 backing tracks. And do a cover, and a few inside pages. I'm not going to release the song list yet, but if you check my soundcloud page... most of the songs I've posted there in the past year or so will be in the new book. Thanks for asking.
