Well It's Here

Well folks here it is- my first steel. This crap is hard. I've been at it about two hours. I've got down the Together Again break but it sounds baaad haha. I'm waiting for my bar to get here so for the time being I'm playing with a glass bottleneck slide which makes the strings buzz, which just makes it worse. But I couldn't be happier!

How many knee levers? Can you raise and lower

Don't give up. It gets better. Slowly. But it does get better. Make sure it's in good tune. It can't sound good if it's out of tune.

Yep, you're starting out much better than I did.
I had a Maverick with a vice-grip for a single knee lever.
Work on that right hand as much as anything else.
Good luck Brother.

Hey Randy...Thank you for your part in keeping our "lost art" alive. I remember my first good guitar back in the mid 80s; a G.E.S. D-10. I sat at that thing 24/7 for 6 months through the NYC winter & learned enough to play it onstage with confidence very quickly. You need to become obsessed in the beginning (& you WILL!) and you will progress quickly enough that it will inspire you to practice even more.

Your guitar almost looks like a Sho-Bud Pro 1, with the "Gumby" headstock & fretboard. If I can be of any help, feel free to PM me anytime.

I got you beat. My Maverick, which cost me $10, came without pedal rods, & I had to make them by bending coat hangers straight!

My Maverick broke in half right down the middle when a drunk fell on it in a bar fight
