MSA Pull Rods

The other day I was looking at the underside of my 1974 MSA D-12 Classic. On a few of the pull rods, there are half round metal balls attached with setscrews. What are they and what purpose do they serve? Inquiring mind would like to know.

Wow, I'd forgotten about those! They were put there to keep the rods from sticking out from the end of the guitar when you fold up the knee levers. This was from the era when MSA didn't have free play stops in the knee lever linkage itself.

There should only be on one rod per knee lever, and it should be about 1/4" from the changer. With the guitar upside down, make sure that all raises and lowers on that string don't pull the changer finger out enough to hit the collar.
