Still sounds good after all these years. Steve Howe is playing a Fender stringmaster in part of the song with a flat bar.

Soon is a beautiful orchestral piece.
Howe shows mastery in his playing of this, casting a little spell over the beginning that sets the tone,
using the steel to state the theme, making it enduring, and joining the orchestra for the final notes.
It's very intelligent; I don't think any other instrument could do it as well.

You're welcome Charlie. He really works the vol pedal on Soon. I knew he was a good guitar player but didn't know he used a steel.

Dennis, in my opinion, Awaken is the most mature of their symphonic pieces. I've seen it live; at the end of it (and the end of the show)
the lights, the sound, the uplifting vocal (and the rising platform he was standing on, unless it was an illusion by the power of the show)
reaches its crescendo (about 15:30 into the video) with Howe on the Fender. It would be scorching if it weren't so transcendent.
(I tuned for the concert, had great seats; 120 dB of clean sound, it seemed. It was in the round on a revolving stage with giant cable feed.
Wakeman's ultra-hi-tech keyboard station was accessible through a port in the floor, below which were bucket seats with seat belts for techs.

I do all the guitar work in a Yes Tribute band in St. Louis and there is nothing I enjoy more than playing Steve's steel parts on my Dual 6. LOVE IT!
