Mullen or gfi?
in the market for a new steel, leaning towards Mullen or gfi. What is the general consensus?

Jon,
Don't have any personal experience with a Mullen but understand them to be very good guitars. Watch any Mickey Adams video and you'll hear how good they sound.
I do have a GFI D10 Ultra and can say it is a great guitar. Plays and sounds great, very precise mechanics that are easy to work on if needed, stays in tune and doesn't break strings. Also it is on the lighter side for a full D10.
Don't think you are gonna go wrong whichever way you go. Good Luck!

Here's my Ford
Here's the Mullen that I use to own.
Notice that they are both BLACK!

Mickey sounds good on the Mullen? Maybe so, but so does Tommy White on his. But surely that's 99.5% because of Tommy's abilities and .5% is down to the guitar.
Any of today's steels are dependable and well-built.

Mullen vs GFI
You should play both side by side and then determine for yourself. I think Bill Cooper sells both brands.

I agree with Dustin
I had a SD-11 Mullen I bought from Tom Brumley. Nice guitar but after I played a GFI I sold the Mullen. Had keyed GFIs, but now have two Keyless GFIs. One for home and one for the road. I will never go back to keys again.

Roger, I beg to differ, (see below pics) but I suspect you meant all the major known brands.
Either Mullen or GFI will serve you well. Have both in our club and both men love them. Of course you can get GFI as a keyed guitar too.
