I always liked the sound of the waves with the Steel Guitars back in the Hawaii Calls era.
On this clip I mixed in a lot of wave action with my background steel tuned: E--B--E--F#--G#--B--C#--E Low to High (E9)
This set up is great for strumming with the full bass for power chords.
Hope you like this.

Beautiful playing Roy. I really enjoyed it.
I have to ask, are those Nova Scotia waves in the back ground ?

HI ROY,

NICE job on this Hawaiian tune.
Who would have guessed that the E-9th tuning could sound Hawaiian.

Thanks Todd, Roger!
Todd: The wave sounds are Hawaiian taken from a relaxation DVD.

Hi Roger. It's easy to re-tune the 6th string to D for the full E9th. Originally I wanted an 8 string tuning for thumb/fingerstyle playing, and I do use it for that from time to time.

All the best

Roy
