So that odd 15 in. Black widow that had no white tag I.d or aluminum dust cover that was in my new LTD sounds like a dream in my late 80s NASH 400! Unbelievable difference. The LTD is in the shop with some issues but before I sent it in I swapped speakers. 1501 from Nash into LTD and big bass speaker(that's what I suspect it is) into Nash. Played Nash 400 at church today and just loved every note! Hard, cold edges are soft and round now. Has perfectly clear tough low end. Mid growl and sparkle highs. Jack Stoner often posted about 1502 speaker being voiced for Nash and then it was changed. I guess I just reverse engineered and got right speaker. Had Fox chip upgrade, latest on 2134 I think. But it didn't solve problem. This huge voice coil bass speaker is just amazing in my Nash 400. I am so happy to finally get great tone from this amp. I had kinda given up on it. Have Session 400 and now LTD 400 and I wanted an amp I could leave at church and still have inspiring tone plus backup amps. The Nash is now just as much fun as the other 2. Just hope the LTD is ok with 1501. Haven't heard it yet. Someone did some real hack repairs on it before I got it and it is in shop again. Got real hot at gig and then cut out at home. Hopefully will be back in action soon. 1501 should b ok in in I am sure. Just really stoked to have my Nash 400 sounding so good . Like a new amp. Those 3 amps plus my killer a Special 130 for tele and D8 console are my solid state secret weapons. Just killers amps. Have had to put some $ into them after 30 plus yrs. but worth it. Love old Peaveys!

my ltd came with a 1501..put a newer 1501 in it down the road and i like it lots. and yes, the 1502 is what's in my nash400 as it should be. perfect combination. ..my two main amps since the 80's. couldn't ask for anything more.

Yes. They are quite ingenious amps. New micro heads are cool and all but kinda pricey and not always reliable. My MB200 blew up in a few months. I still like big iron. Twin is said to be ultimate but I can't get around one to move it. Some guys put wheels and all. I still like going solid state. Gig a lot and like peace of mind. I think the old Peavey sound and feel really great. I no longer have tube mania. They are awesome but I like not worrying about them.

My '77 LTD 400 sounds much better to my failing ears with a retrofitted 1501-4 than it ever did with its original JBL.
