Seriously, your assessment is correct. A full-width crossbar captures the pedal motion, which is then transfered to the half-crossbar of the selected neck. One could, in theory, add additional changes to the pedal crossbar, but those changes would not be switchable so there wouldn't be much point in it.

I don't see why anyone would need more than 5+5 on each neck. It seems to be a very reasonable limit to me.

You can get 1 more knee lever added to the Williams crossover. It is just a straight cross rod and not changed by the crossover lever. Pulls can be on either neck but you are pulling them all the time as with any other guitar that 1 lever works on both necks. This gives you a max of 5&6 on each neck.
The Williams is a great guitar and you won't find a better person to deal with than Bill.

I was looking on ebay and they have a
Sho-Bud that looks like it may be a crossover.It has a lever on the left side and looks different than any I have seen underneath. Is it a crossover? It has Baldwin on the front.
