Dave Gilmore style MIJ Jedson/Guyatone Please CLOSE

Post by Grant Johnson »

It looks like a 70's copy of a Fender Stringmaster style Steel. No Name, sounds great. Has blender under the bridge cover. Keys work great. Six stringer. Maybe a Jedson or Guyatone. Comes with a hardshell cases. Legs work well. Both pickups work well. Currently tuned to top 6 strings of A6.
It looks exactly like the steels favored by Dave Gilmore.
Comes with original hardshell case, very fender-like.
Asking $350 which includes shipping and PP fees.

To be honest, you might be better advertising this either on one of the Pink Floyd forums or even Ebay.

As this is a steel forum, you're going to get offers worth what it's worth as an instrument. They are cool guitars, I've got one and have used it a lot when I needed a small steel on legs - but, to put it politely, they aren't Fenders.

The only people who are going to offer you a lot of money for it are the Floyd heads who want one because it's the same as the one Gilmour used.

BTW - the magic word is "Jedson" -with a d not a p.

Thanks for the spell check.

I think its priced fairly as a cool MIJ fender copy with legs and two pickups. I have seen Jedsons go for a couple hundred bucks more on Ebay.

Regarding your Its not a Fender statement:

Of course its not a Fender! Its not priced near what a Fender brings.

Considering vintage Fender six stringers with legs go for upwards of $800. I think that this is a reasonable deal..

Not sure of your intentions but I am fairly certain your post is not helping me sell my guitar at what I consider to be a fair price...

I really was trying to help and not trying to mess up your advert.

I don't know what a fair price is for your steel and you may well be spot on, but I just wanted to point out that whilst on this forum, someone would probably pay about the same for your steel as for an almost the same but slightly different one (such as a Guyatone), there are people more interested in Floyd/Gilmour that would pay a lot more for yours than for the hypothetical Guyatone.

In the same way that Shadows/Hank Marvin fans will pay a lot more for DeArmond 620 pedals than most steel players and they aren't so interested in similar pedals like Fender and Bigsby.

And the only reason I pointed out the spelling error was in case you decided to list on Ebay, someone searching for Jedson might not have spotted it.

These are wonderful guitars. Grant I think your price very fair. I have one of these but is under the ARIA name. As far as your comments Jeff, sometimes you people on the forum act like if it's not an EMMONS or SHOBUD you act like your not good enough for these kind of guitars.MIJ sometimes is better the MADE IN THE USA!!! Grant good luck with your sale.

Please close. I have been crazy busy with work and I don't really need the scratch. My apologies to the fellows that I was working with on offers, but all offers involved me taking a loss on this instrument. Gonna keep it for a while- its a great little steel..
