remaining "White Lightning" bars,

Post by Michael Hillman »

Thanks, guys, for the orders for the White Lightning bars. The 15/16" are sold, there are 4 remaining 7/8" x 3 3/8", and 1 remaining lap steel bar. Not certain at this time when we will have more of these, as we'd like to move the rest of this group and send a donation to the Wounded Warriors Foundation, we do have a good inventory of other colors, and the 1" bars are still on track for near the month's end. Also, purchase any bar at full price, and we will include a second bar for an additional $20. PM or email me with questions or suggestions, or call (208) 867-5062 - Michael

Post by George Macdonald »

Thanks Michael, I'd like to get two of the 7/8 x 3" bars. I really like this larger size for my 8 string lap steels, and your powder coated bars are so incredibly smooth. I've sent an email re: the colors. Thanks, George

Hello, Allen, your payment has posted, I'll send your bars early tomorrow morning, and I'll provide tracking info as well as estimated delivery. I'd guess you will see them Monday, although, since I always ship Priority, they could be to you Saturday if all the U. S. Postal stars are in alignment. - M

I told Michael that my bars arrived with a shipping damage - 7 minutes later I got his reply saying that he'll send me replacement bars - 35 minutes later I got another reply with the mailing receipt attached.
Michael, you can surely improve on that!
The replacement bars have arrived, thank you Michael! Superb bars, they play like cherry cheesecake - I like them a whole lot! :)

Thanks, Ollie, will resume bar sales 5/27,

Post by Michael Hillman »

Thanks for the post, Ollie, it took a couple of bars getting damaged by some really rough handling to realize that anytime there was more than one in a box, we had to wrap them much better to prevent some kind of shipping damage. At any rate, we've greatly improved our packaging, especially for international sales. Thanks to everyone who has supported our powder coated bar project. As I've mentioned to a number of Forum members, my wife and I are taking two weeks vacation, and will close the shop and resume taking bar orders on May 27th. Usually I am able to take a good supply of bars when we travel, but this time we are headed to Europe, so that isn't practical on this trip, of course I will check email any time we are close to Wi-Fi.

I play a Sierra Universal 12 and would like to know what the thinnest bar is that you can get that will work well for me? I had the then bar that came with my Carter Starter and got spoiled, if you will, by it's thinness. I know have a Dunlop bar that is thick and not really liking it.

Let me know that the cost is shipped to me also.

I appreciate your response.

Hey Johnny- give me ideal dimensions,

Post by Michael Hillman »

Hey Johnny, I expect I could have my machinist modify a larger bar to produce that thinner bar for you. What would be the ideal diameter and length? I'm thinking of taking a 1" x 3 1/2", and shaving down to 3/4" x 3 1/2". Or, we could start with a larger 3 x 3/8", he can produce any diameter you'd want, once you get me a size, I'll respond with a quote that includes shipping. I'll be back in the states May 27th. Best, Michael

Back from a great vacation, ready to ship some bars!

Post by Michael Hillman »

Thanks to everyone who has made inquires and have patiently waited for us to return from vacation - however, our powder coater and machinists have not been vacationing, our inventory is good, so we will continue to offer one bar at the usual price, and your choice of ANY other bar at half price of the first bar. Current pricing is: 3/4" lap steel bars, either 2 3/4" or 3", $36.95.
7/8" x 3 3/8".....$49.95
15/16" x 3 3/8"...$54.95
1" x 3 1/2".......$56.95

we have just a few lap steel bars in 7/8" x 3" 39.95
inquire about colors, I'll answer promptly. We will have another group of White Lightning bars soon, we appreciate all the support for our powder coated bar project! Michael Hillman

Powder coated bars

Post by George Macdonald »

Michael, my black 15/16" bar came today. Beautiful finish. These are the most comfortable bars to use. Thanks for making a great product. George

After checking it out and giving it some serious thought, I believe that 3 1/2" length would be just fine but in a 7/8". This would apparently put it more in the line of a lap steel bar. I got spoiled by the thinness of the bars offered with the Carter Starter and no longer like anything any thicker. A black bar would be fine, for me.

Let me know what the price, out the door and shipped to the 32409 zip code would possibly be. I realize this only a quote, at this time and appreciate you taking the time to reply back.

Thanks guys,

Post by Michael Hillman »

George, always great to get feedback from you - Johnny, I'll work on this for you, I typically have to get bar blanks machined and powder coating done in groups of 20-25 to make the final product affordable. But, I will get a firm quote to you soon, and if black works, we will just have to get the bar machined to the correct size, and then get it in a batch of gloss black pieces to powder coat. - Regards, Michael
