Frypan-8 Lap Steel, Aluminum, Cust. Horse Shoe Pickup

Post by W. Johnson »

Just finished another FryPan-8 guitar. This one has a faux horseshoe pickup in it, that was sent to my by my customer. He wanted a mellower sound, so I put .531" long magnets in the pickup so it is shorter, and wider at 1.25". I wound it to around 8K resistance using 43 gauge wire (equivalent to around 12K with 42 gauge wire). It is 24" scale, .375" string spacing. Has aluminum fret board and back plate. Here are some pics, and a couple of links to sound files of this guitar.

Very nice, clean work. Very tempting too. What tuning is she in?

I really liked the sound on the 2nd clip. You do wonderful work with metal.
