I got a new bar a while ago. One of my Dad's, friend's, brtoher made it. It got kind of a rust on it. Can I do anything to get it back to normal or is my bar gone?

Try 400 grit emery cloth. then 1000, then finer and finally chrome polish or a rouge wheel. If he "made" it, it's probably not chromed and you don't have to worry about the finish. The cheapo kind you buy in rolls at Harbor Freight works good. Wrap one end in belt leather squeeze it firmly in a vise and wrap the emery cloth around it once, and do it that way. Then swap ends, and do the tip by hand. Uniformity is the key. They don't have to be perfect.
