Looking at one of my old MSA double R/L guitars and needing the triple R/L ability, would it just be too simple to think that all I would have to do would be to take the changer off and slide off the double fingers and slide on some triple fingers with the same shaft size then open up the end plate to access the tuning nuts. |

If the replacement fingers were MSA's and of the same type, possibly. But not sure.
Changer fingers come in all shapes an sizes. And rarely are they interchangable. Particularly between different brand steels.
But hey, who knows. Ya might wanna send an email or call Reece. A nicer person you would never meet.
I will tell you an interesting story. A player some years ago came over to Mac Atcheson's house (Mac was a PSG guru) and this man had made a changer for his homemade guitar. He asked Mac what he thought about it.
So Mac looked it over and finally said, "It looks great, but I wish you had made it a triple raise, triple lower changer." (It was a triple raise double lower)
The man said, "I will be back tomorrow!"
The next day he came back and that fine gengleman had silver soldered an extension to the lower finger so perfectly, that Mac who had eyes like eagles, could NOT tell it. Worked like a charm.
As the ole saying goes, "When there's a will,..."

I sure miss Mac. He lived right down the street. If he were still with us I would be right there and Mac would answer every question. |

If I remember correctly, Bill, it is an easy task to make a little piece of aluminum to add a third raise to an MSA if you don't mind losing one of the 2 lowers on that string- it can be done in less than an hour and you only have to temporarily remove the affected rods on the one string in question- don't even think about removing the changer, etc., no need~~~~
give me a call if you need help/pics/etc- Jim -
