Milkman + El Capistan; Another Clip

Post by Derek Duplessie »

One last clip to give you an idea of how great this pair can sound (even with me at the helm!). The overall sound quality of the video isn't as good, but I think the tonal character of the amp comes through better nevertheless.

Sounds great and your playings sounds really tasteful. I like your guitar too. Looks a little like mine - here's a photo - see if you agree.

By the way - which Milkman are you using in that clip?

Hey John,

Thanks for the compliment, and yes, our guitars are nearly identical! I'm using the 85w.

Thanks! I just used it in the studio on a project that will come out in the summer. Also, the amp will be featured in an HBO show that another one of my bands recently made an appearance in.

Great tone man! It sounds awesome. You're based in Southern California?

Hey thanks, Tyler! I've actually been in New Orleans for the last few years, but I'll be in s. California for the better part of the summer. Who do you play with out there?

I'm definitely on the lookout for gigs to play, shows to see, etc. Feel free to get in touch if you ever want to geek out about steel stuff.

Hi there Derek,
Your sound is superb man.I really like the band also.I particularly like the rythmn of the song ,the drumming is great. It really is a breath of fresh air to my tired ears.

What settings are on the El Capistan please. I have one but use for electric guitar to get a Shadows 60s type sound.Considering using it for my Mullen Black Beauty .

Thanks, guys!

Dave,

Not exactly sure what the setting would have been for that particular performance, but generally speaking, I use single tape head, mode B, with tape age at about 3 o'clock, repeats around 12 o'clock, mix at around 10 o'clock, and with the flutter all the way off. I've been setting the delay time manually with the tap function.

Also, I've only been playing with this band for the last few months, but they have a couple of E.P.s that you can listen to either on spotify or bandcamp.

Thanks for the reply Derek,
How do you find the pedal action on the Williams by the way.I considered a Williams ,but went for a Mullen RP.Wonderful easy playing mechanism on the Mullen.

The pedal action is great; short pulls, not too stiff, but certainly snappy. It's a great guitar all around.
