It's never long between my kindergarten-level electronics questions so here's the next one for those of you who are at the first grade level or above...
An amp has a single output looking for a 4 ohm load. I have two cabs with 8 ohm speakers and would like the option of using one or both depending on the situation.
1. I gather from all I've read that a tube amp looking for 4 ohms will play fine with a single 8 ohm speaker but I want to be sure I have that right. So, yes? (Or no.)
2. If I wanted to use both cabs, what are my options, if any, for running them both. (There's one jack per cab so they're not wired currently to be connected in series.)

1) yes, that's acceptable. Not the most efficient, but harmless
2) Make or buy a Y cable with one plug going to two jacks, and plug it into the output and your speaker leads into it. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Any do's and don'ts to that Y-cord, though? Specific type of cable needed, etc? |

Don't use shielded cable. Zip line (lamp cable) is cheap, and most people have an appliance around that's not working. Use its cable and throw it away; you'll never get around to fixing it. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
