I have looked at two threads dealing with dating Stringmasters using serial numbers and was told it was not possible to date the guitars using their serial numbers but where does one find the serial numbers themselves?
I have been told "below the decal". I've already looked at this thread and another that Brad Bechtel mentions at the bottom of this thread:

I am aware that the month and year are often penciled in to the wooden cavity covered by the pans.
Thanks, stevet |

Just flip up the chrome cover on the neck nearest to you and it's just by the blender wheel. |

Thanks Jeff. In spite of the Stringmaster NOT being a pedal steel, I also posted my question in the PEDAL STEEL section in the hope that there will be more responses.
I know I've read somewhere that Stringmasters also did not have the serial number near the "blender" as you menioned. I am probably wrong on that count.

I'm pretty sure that when Brad said it was on the base of the instrument, he meant the control panel as I have never seen them anywhere else.
The earliest Stringmasters had them in plain view like on the blue one in the thread below, so I guessed you would probably already spotted it if you had one like that.
The pictures in this thread show the only 2 possible places that they could be.
