Glad to have Known you

Post by George Piburn »

I was fortunate to meet and pick a little with Gene at the now defunked Central Oklahoma SGA in Tuttle OK.

I remember when I played It had to be You , you saying , "we should all be playing this kind of music".

Years ago I would go and see Conway and some of the others you played with before I really knew what pedal steel was.

It was those times in my teen years that planted the seed in my heart.

A Prayer for Gene:

May you receive the blessings you need most.
May those blessings multiply, be renewed and
Always keep you happy, healthy, wealthy and wise.
May no harm ever come to you and
May no harm ever come from you.
O Lord, hear this prayer and let this prayer be fulfilled.
Amen.

Gene,
It's been several years since we emailed, but I enjoyed visiting with you about our common ground: our old friend Paul Jorgenson and the Lord's church. It's so touching to read your goodbye, but it's a blessing you were allowed to do so. My prayers are with you and all your family, for God's blessings, that this difficult time will be made as easy as possible for you all. I look forward to seeing you on the other side. May God's grace and peace be with you.

I am sad to inform you that Gene passed from this life last wed (April 22 2015), and his funeral will be Wed (April 29 2015) at the Mayfair Church Of Christ in Oklahoma City.

I am sure Gene was comforted by all the posting above. RIP Gene.
