Topic: Seeking Someone to properly tune my Marlen S10-D |

I have a Marlen S10-D and I would love to get it properly setup. I have already emailed Ricky Davis directly.
It would be preferable to take it to someone in NC in order to save on shipping. Can anyone recommend someone in NC that works on steel guitars or Marlen's in particular?
It appears to be a late period, all pull guitar. Single neck, 10 string, day setup, 3 pedals, 5 knee bars. I have had moderate success tuning it myself but some of the knee levers just wont comply.

IF you are not familiar with the working of the undercarriage, I would suggest someone that is to look at it for you, as it looks like you have a pull rod hanging loose in one of the pictures. After that is fixed, they are no problem to tune up.

I have no direct experience with Marlen Guitars. I've never worked on a pull release. If it's an all pull changer I could help.
I live in the Raleigh Durham Area.

Bobby, where are you in NC. I'm in Greensboro which in the central part of the state. I do set ups on Marlen guitars. Give me a call and bring it by and we can do it together to give you a little Marlen 101. Those are usually great guitars. Her is my number 336-674-8200.

That steel has an all/pull changer, one of the later Marlens. There are many very good steel techs in NC and anyone that can set up an all/pull system could do it for you. A few names come to mind, but weather or not they would take on the task, could be found out by contacting them.
These two are forum members: Jack Palmer in New Bern, Billy Knowles in Burgaw, both are exceptional. There are many more.
That steel needs a little TLC, but should sound very good... |

obviously you're new at this. before spending unnecessary money, see if you can't hook up with a local steel player who could set you in the right direction.
too many forum members advocate spending money that isn't necessary. |
