I had a beautiful red lacquer 1969 P/P Emmons that was restored by Bobbe Seymoure that lost its life in a house fire...I know the P/P had monster tone but to all the P/P experts here on this feed what was your honest opinion on the 1969 model?

Mike, I've got either a 69 or 70 model Fat Back and love it. I don't think there is much difference in the cut tails between the 66's on into the mid 70's. There may be some difference in the geometry or size of parts which may or may not make a difference but all are very good sounding and playing guitars when set up properly.
Bobby Seymour made the statement at one time to me that he thought the 80 push pulls were the best sounding so who knows. I just know that I didn't like the 80's models that I had as well as I do the before 80's. My favorite is my black 70 or 69 Fat back model. I had a 66 that I didn't like as well as I do the ones I have now but they all felt about the same as far as playability.

From Bobbe's youtube videos my thinking is that he really liked a scooped tone...anybody know if the tonal differences between 80s and earlier models were the result of changes to the pickup model or voice?
