Mike, I've got either a 69 or 70 model Fat Back and love it. I don't think there is much difference in the cut tails between the 66's on into the mid 70's. There may be some difference in the geometry or size of parts which may or may not make a difference but all are very good sounding and playing guitars when set up properly.
Bobby Seymour made the statement at one time to me that he thought the 80 push pulls were the best sounding so who knows. I just know that I didn't like the 80's models that I had as well as I do the before 80's. My favorite is my black 70 or 69 Fat back model. I had a 66 that I didn't like as well as I do the ones I have now but they all felt about the same as far as playability. _________________ Henry Matthews
