I think Darvin recently commented on using this one. It's a cool little box from what I can tell, 6 effects at a time, create all kinds of presets. Zoom is an often overlooked brand.

| I think Darvin was talking about the ms50g multi effects pedal whereas this one (ms-70cdr) has just chorus, delay, and reverb and seemingly more of each. |

Though I don't have one, the MS70CDR seems to be very similar to the MS50G. It just has a different set of effects that are more specialized around time based simulations. The MS50G is a compilation of 100 various popular stomp boxes and effect gadgets.
If it does it's thing as well as the MS50G, then it's very worth having. And, you're right' Gary....it sounds like just the thing for pedal steel pickers....chorus, delay and reverb. And, what's even better is that the unit has many versions of each type to choose from. 86 effects in all....and some of them look impressive...like versions of Strymon, Hardwire, Lexicon, etc., devices. That's a pretty big claim, but the proof is in the listening.
I may just have to get one of these babies to try out. Sounds like Zoom finally hired some outrageously talented engineers.

I have had one for a couple years. Great little box for a little variety in your tone. The delays are nice and quite a few reverbs to choose from. It does a lot that the MS50 doesn't. Can do some crazy sound effects too. Great around Halloween time!

| The Zoom MS-70CDR looks ideal for steel guitar. They have left off distortion and compression effects and have added a ton of reverb - delay - chorus effects much more useful for steel guitar. Zoom boxes are also good for checking out some of what the Strymon - TC - Eventide - MXR - Line 6 boxes do before spending $500 a shot. If you recently watched the Russ Pahl video where he demonstrated his use of two delays - this box will do it. |

I'm very happy with the Zoom MS-50G. I have a steel reverb patch, and couple of dobro patches, and an organ patch in it.

| I keep telling myself don't do it, but I'm going to order one of these Zoom MS70 CDR pedals. It's just too perfect for what I (need?) use in my effects loop. It will consolidate three pedals into one small footprint and give the option of building custom presets for steel, guitar, bass and mandolin. That's it, I just sold myself. |

| Well I broke down and got one. I spent perhaps 30 minutes with it last night and there is a LOT to digest before I form opinions I can discuss here but I have to say that my first impression is quite good. Without doing any tweaking at all I've found probably 4 or 5 stock patches that are both usable and really nice. The analog delay simulation seems good. This one will take a while to really explore. |

Gary - we must have been drinking the same kool-aid at the same time, mine arrived Monday. I've had very little time to play with it but my initial impressions are it's like my other Zoom product (HN4 hand-held) - i.e. very long on possibilities and very short on any meaningful documentation to walk you through getting it going.
I've found a few presets that have possibilities for the delay which is what I was mostly looking for. When I go into the individual effects and try and tweak them to a preferred ms delay, wet/dry level etc I'm getting nowhere at this point but imagine I'll figure it out.
In the meantime if anyone has any favorite settings/combinations of effects they have worked out I'd be all ears and would reciprocate when (and if) I figure this thing out! |

I keep finding the programming of FX patches is not intuitive on my Zoom 50, I have to keep relearning how to do it because its interface isn't at all like my mind thinks. My 2¢.
