Well I'm Not to happy with this new Mullen R.P. guitar, But I'm not going to bash anyone until I
talk to the people at Mullen. I just hope they stand behind their product. I will say that I believe your better off buying one at one of the steel guitar shows. This way you know it will be properly set up. Tennessee Lee

Lee, don't know what problem with RP is! but when I had my Mullen the service I received from Mike and the guys was second to none, I'm sure once you speak to them things will get sorted our.I am taking it this is a new guitar from them and not one from a previous owner.Hope thing work out ok.

Malcolm, it would be my guess it is the new RP he talked about in an earlier thread. That being the case, I do urge you to touch base with the Mullen crew, they can get it right for you.

My 2 cents, YMMV.

Pay thousands and thousands of dollars, and then wait many months or YEARS to get it for a guitar and it has issues, hell YES I would bitch here in public, and have done exactly that already, and yes it worked,, there was a new problem free steel at my door within 2 weeks..
its easy to say " talk to the builder first", when you haven't waited a very long time, and spent a fortune.. If I pay top dollar for something custom built to my specs, it needs to be right, first time... The OP has every right to complain here.. this IS a players forum, not so much a builders forum... bob

Lee, I think all Jon was saying is shouldn't you have given Mullen a chance to review and work with you before announcing this on the Forum thereby "bashing" them already? I think that would have been the prudent and responsible move, but it's your call.

My 2 cents, YMMV.

(...and Bob C., I doubt he has waited years for this Mullen, just saying)

I'm not trying to be nosy, but may I ask what exactly the problem is?

The reason I ask is because I'm considering investing in a new Mullen G2 D10.

Please keep us updated as to how your communication with them goes and how it is resolved?

Thanks!

Tell you what:
I bet Mike and Del will have him satisfied tout suite.

And I can DAMN WELL sympathize with opening the crate and finding that a guitar that cost more than I've spent for most of the cars I've owned wasn't right (yeah, I buy my cars used).

I can see that DG whitley, and Jon Light are
absolutely right and I'm wrong. These guys are authorities on doing the right thing, But when you lay almost $5000.00 down and they dont get it right the first time. I think a persons got a right to be a little upset. I could probably fix most of these things myself, But why should I. Sure their gonna take care of it. I'll have to mail it back. Meanwhile I got a sick wife to take care of and I dont need the aggravation. T.L.

Lee, I am sorry to hear of your wife's health issues and will keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers. I don't disagree you have a right to be upset, but call Mullen, and explain the situation to them. They may even be willing to pay for the shipping, give it a shot.

My best wishes to you and yours.

Sorry for anyone's inconvenience, but I felt the need to say that I own two G2s and at one time had a RP. They are well built, well serviced and my several dealings with Mike always ended with this customers satisfaction. We are a small guitar community and fortunate to have people willing to dedicate their lives building these difficult contraptions. All of these must be "custom fit" by the player once she or he receives them. Mullen guitars are easy to work on. It's amazing how much better a guitar feels after you adjust the leavers, get the proper travel and stops, pedal height etc. Hope your wife's health improves...that's most important.

Lee---much as DG said, I certainly don't expect you to be happy if the guitar does not meet your expectations. I understand frustration and I understand disappointment.

Not knowing what the issues are, I can't begin to form an opinion as to how serious your guitar's problems are.
I have seen people deal calmly with disastrous messes and I have seen them go ballistic over small stuff.
I have seen sellers/manufacturers bend over backwards to make things right for customers who understood that stuff happens, let's move forward and get things right....
... and I have seen sellers/manufacturers just give up after doing all they possibly could and then realizing that there was nothing in this world that they could do that would satisfy the customer and bring justice and closure to the situation.

How this turns out is partly in your hands. It can be calmly resolved or it can go off the rails. Anything that has happened up to this moment has happened. That will not change. How it goes from here on is yet to be determined.

Lee,
I had an issue with a like new Mullen , when i got it from Mullen, it wasn't quite what I expected. My copedent wasn't accurate , and I had a few minor concerns. I expected perfection, and didn't get it. Some of it was my fault, some not.

I fired off a strongly worded letter to Mike , it was critical. He responded that he would do whatever it takes to make me satisfied. In looking back, I wish I hadn't been so harsh with my response, but that's just me.

If I had it to do over again, I may have handled it a bit differently.
I think the level of passion we have for our steels is equal to the level of our disssapointment when we feel something doesn't work out as expected.

You / they will get it like you want, and you likely will really enjoy it, it's just frustrating while you get it sorted out...

If the guitar was shipped to you, there's no telling what might have happened to it. Still, as many years Mullen has been in business, they would definitely want to know what the problem is and a chance to fix it. Something might have happened that might not even be their fault. Regardless of what the problem is, they will want to fix it and make things right, but we still understand your frustration and also prayers for you and your wife.

Lee I totally agree with you! I've been there and drives you nuts. When you put out that kind of bread, you expect it to be right, trouble is, I've never had a steel guitar that didn't have issues! I wouldn't trade the two main steels I have now for anything. I have reworked, repaired, replaced, moded, adjusted and know these guitars by heart and wouldn't let any other hands but myself work on them. You have to be a musician, machinist, and mechanic when you take on this love. Hope things work out for you especially when it's a new guitar! It was really frustrating for me too!! Loren.

Lee,
I'm so sorry your wife is ill. I know how overwhelming and upsetting that is. I hope and pray it is something she will completely recover from soon.
As for your new Mullen, I'm shocked there is a problem. I've been playing Mullen guitars since 1987 without any issues. I believe Mullen pedal steel guitars to be the absolute best and the customer service the finest. I feel sure they will correct whatever the problem may be to your satisfaction asap, so you will be inspired to enjoy your new guitar as much as I enjoy playing mine.
Sincerely my best,
Tommy White

You can say everything you've written, like Bob C. said. I haven't read any bashing yet. Were there a Mullen rep reading,
he would probably be in touch with you, but 'It's not a perfect world.'

A careful explanation to them should bring favorable results, considering the many testimonies to the integrity of Mullen and company.
They want good playing steels out there.
Perhaps it's good to vent the frustration here before you approach them; you can still make butter from honey on this.
