My attempts to contact Live Steel Strings have failed. I received an order of strings early in March. Even though the order total was 55.90, the declared value was given as 123.00 on the customs declaration form, which, since above the duty-free level, resulted in substantial custom fees and VAT being imposed. I filed a complaint by email on 6 March, politely asking for a newly-made customs declaration, and on 13 March, sent a message through the website's contact form. Both messages were ignored. Today, I dialed Live Steel String's phone number. Nobody picked up the phone.

I hate to bring this to the attention of the Forum, but I hope that this way, Live Steel Strings will, finally, respond.

Perhaps you should check your junk box. We responded to your email 2 times. It is you that did not respond.

No better service or people than Sid Hudson and his sweet daughters and wife. I would go to "bat" for Sid any day of the week---good man.

I am very happy with my Live Steel strings too, great service. But I am intrigued about the mis-statement of the order value, especially if Hans was put to a tax penalty as a result of what seems to have been a mistake. Let's hope those e-mail messages cleared things up.

Moral for us all here: if you think you have no reply, check that junk e-mail folder first. "To err is human, but it takes a computer to really screw things up!"

I have purchased several sets of strings from Sid and he has always gotten them to me in just a few days of placing the order.

Good guy, super steel guitarist and service in my opinion.

I would like to let everybody reading this know that after Sid sent me a new correct declaration, I learned yesterday that the customs fees were not refundable because it wasn't the fault of the Swiss authorities. To make up for my unnecessary expenses, Sid sent me a refund to cover them. So, all is well, Sid lived up to his reputation, and the case is closed.
