When I was very new to this instrument I hooked on to Rick Alexander's YouTube site (https://www.youtube.com/user/rickalexander47)
and found this to be very helpful. There many, many videos there but around 45 short videos of what I would describe as pure technique and a dozen of just songs. Look at the thumbnails and pick out the ones of Rick alone in his studio.
The camera is usually overhead which helps see the positions, particularly the slants, there is no wild technique, just stuff you can use.
It's all 8 string and IMHO its better than a teacher!
