Annual Swansea, IL Steel Jam

Post by Wally Davis »

The annual Swansea, IL steel guitar jam will be on Sunday March 22nd. This will start at noon and usually goes until around 7. All levels of skill are more that welcome. I think we had around 15 players last year. It's a great time and look forward to seeing everyone.
This is held at the Swansea Improvement Association Hall, 301 Service Street, Swansea, IL

Hi Wally. How is this Steel Jam run. Is there backup musicians,
or do steel players bring their own tracks that they'll play with.

I plan to go. I’m just debating on whether or not to bring my steel. I don’t know enough to do much jamming, but if it’s possible to learn a lick or two, that would make it worth dragging it down there. Most jamm sessions I attend, I usually spend most my time on rhythm guitar. I’m really more interested in meeting some steel players from around the area, and of course hearing some steel playing.

Dan, it's a great way to learn. Most steel players appreciate beginners, they were all there once. So go set up and have a good time. I might come if things work out. Would love to meet you.

I hope the boss gives me the day off. I'm right in the middle of remodeling her kitchen.

It was a great time once again. Most importantly, just to see everyone once again. Thank you for the "pick glue" Lyle. It will really come in handy.
