Major Simpson
Our good friend and steel player, Major Simpson, passed away yesterday, March 17, 2015. Major was born in 1924 and grew up in the Jasper, Alabama area. He served his time in the Navy and entertained fellow servicemen on ships. He then played various areas along the east coast and then the west coast. He played for the likes of Roy Clark, Jimmy Dean, and others. Eventually he went to work for the U.S. Post Office, moved to the Shreveport, Louisiana area and retired from that profession. He enjoyed meeting with other steel enthusiasts and showing them licks that he got from the likes of Jerry Byrd. Major will be missed but well remembered by us and we know also by many of you. Arrangements of services are pending at this time.
