I'm new to the forum, but have been watching for a long time.

I'd like to introduce my upgraded tuning/chord mapping system...

This web-based application works for any stringed instrument with a fretboard (or fingerboard), fretted or fretless.

Steel and Dobro players can add strings (I set it to 14 max).

The pitch on any string can be raised or lowered.

In fact, you can create any tuning imaginable!

Guitar, mandolin and banjo pickers will find it very useful, too.

It's pretty straightforward and easy to use. If you stare at it long enough, you will see patterns (literally)...

Victor, I couldn't visit the page (403 forbidden error). But I set up what I think is a similar web application, although it doesn't have string raises and lowers. check chord123.com

I was probably tweaking it when you tried to access it. Seems to be working OK now. There may be short interruptions in service when I'm working on it. Please try again...let me know if the problem persists...

Viktor: works now. Quite similar to the one I made. Good work. Nice detail, to have the position of the note on top of the fret marking on the Psg, instead of in between them on the guitar.

I'm still struggling with the display of the notes. Sometimes the map will show an Eb when it should technically show a D# or visa versa. Sometimes it might show an E# instead of an F. Especially on the scales and DIM chords of certain keys.

The information is still correct, but violates key signature rules.

I am aware of this problem, but until the work-around pops into my head (and into my coding), it will have to be like that. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much for this, Victor. As a beginner, this really demonstrates the pedal steel's endless chord possibilities. I can't stop playing around on it!

A way to save tunings/chords or custom tunings at
www.UniversalChordMapper.com is to:

- right-click on the page/chart (Firefox)
- select "Save Page As"
- select a download folder
- designate a unique file name that best describes the tuning, chord, etc.
- click save to download the page/chart

Now you can open the saved page/chart in your browser from its download location. You will not be able to edit this saved page as the controls will not work, but at least you can save your custom tunings for future reference.

Also, you can capture a screenshot and crop/rename/edit the image as desired, as shown below...
