If only a few are bad, I'd talk to James. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Mike,
Those Sperzel tuners are not made anymore and are extremely hard to find used. I have seen many of them that are very hard to turn, because the grease inside has hardened up. If that seems to be the problem, you can send them back to Sperzel to be taken apart and relubed. I've had several sets done and they come back working like new.
If some of them are just worn out internally, you'll just have to resort to trying to find used replacements from someone. James Morehead would likely be a person that might have some. I once bought a used Dekley key head on eBay that had those Sperzels on it, so I know they were used on other guitars besides Sho-Bud. _________________ Best regards,

Mike, I have dealt directly with Sperzel. ( I have to assume you have Sperzel tuners, as I had a Super Pro years ago, and it had Sperzels). Sperzel has two post lengths which are 25/32" (.781), and 29/32" (.906). I would think either one would work, but you might have to trim the two tuners at the end of the keyhead for them to fit (strings 5 and 6). The tuners are called "Sperzel Solid Pro Tuners". Order 5 right and 5 left. I e-mailed Lori and she was great to deal with. I hope this helps. sperzel@sperzel.com

Mike..If ordering direct from Sperzel, specify that they are to be used on pedal steel guitar and that two tuners with shorter shaft lengths will be required. My tuners for my SKH Legrande arrived ready to install, no modifications necessary. |
