What sad news this is today. Nicest guy in the world and as others have said a wealth of information.
Prayers for him this weekend as we celebrate the instrument that he loved.

This is as sad as it gets. Bud was not only a genius designer, he was a good man. Many of us (including me,) dealt with him one time or another. I don't think anybody ever said a bad word about him.

I knew Bud had been ill and I had been praying for him. Losing him right now, especially at the start of the Texas steel show makes this loss even more difficult. Bud Carter was a great influence and a wealth of knowledge. He built so many steel guitars only God knows how many. I always found Bud to be so kind and helpful any time I visited with him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this most difficult time. RIP Bud Carter, you will definitely be missed.

I never will forget, I was at the ISGC in 2003, and Bud Carter was there, along with John and Ann Fabian. I remember walking through the hall, stopping at the Carter booth, and playing a Carter steel. Bud was there to see how I handled the bar, and it was the first time I met him. RIP, Bud, you will be missed. He was a great steel guitar builder.

I knew Bud Carter built both of my MSA's, so when I was ready to buy another new guitar, I wanted a Carter. I was shocked when I called them about trading in one of my MSA's and I talked to "the" Bud Carter. Later I talked to John and they were two of the nicest most helpful people you could ever ask to know.
This is so sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to Bud's family.

Wow! Speechless . . . . now two Texas Legendary personalities. Charlie Norris and Bud were always two that extended that Texas hospitality towards us at the Texas show! The steel guitar world has truly lost "the walking book of steel guitar knowledge" with Bud Carter graduating. I am honored that I was priviledged to know Bud on a first name basis. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bud's family.

That is such a shame. The steel guitar world has lost another giant. My condolences to his family and many, many friends.

Ah, no. Perhaps his family and friends can find some solace in the knowledge that he helped SO very many people, so kindly and openly, along their path to enjoying music. Many of us will be playing his wonderful creations for many, many years, and remembering his considerate support to us. I'm sure glad I knew him.

World's away.
Today in a Beijing park I stepped along admiring the buds peaking out from the trees, taking in the clear blue skies on a crisp day.
Halfway around the world a dark cloud was crawling low.
My condolences to all Bud's family and friends.
