I have one or two that I posted in the Sierra Auction post some time ago. I forget what section it was in. If you can't find it I can dig one up and size it down. It was a nice D10 and all original.
Be patient. I'm really busy this week.

I would really love to have an early "Wrght Custom" to be included in the Sho-Bud collection I am amassing. Any early significant pieces of history are welcome.
The Wright Custom is the guitar Jimmy Day played on Ray Prices "Crazy Arms".

The one I pictured was Bobby Dixons's and it went for 350$ at the Sierra Auction..
It went to the new owner of SPSG.
I got another 12 hour day, a show gig and another 12 with a weekend at Jubitz, but I'll post another pic inbetween somewhere..

I have an old brochure from 40 years ago with my D-10 and my picture and Barbara Mandrell, Gene Pooler, Zane King and others but I have no way of posting it here. I traded it back to Chuck Wright in about '66 and I think it went to a very young Jack Smith according to Chuck, at that time. Maybe Jack can verify that. |

Hey Bobbe, as fate would have it, that Wright Custom Q8 is sitting in my office..... Did you see the auction where Vance Terry's D10 went for $315 on e-bay? [This message was edited by chas smith on 06 May 2004 at 12:01 AM.] |

I have a Triple 8 with two pedals, it originally was idendical to Jimmy Day's guitar. Someone brutally chopped off the fourth neck and painted the guitar red. I had it restored and put the original Isaacs E9 on the inside neck. Plugged into a Standel it gives the exact sound Jimmy had on Crazy Arms |

No Chas., I didn't see the e-bay sale. Sorry I didn't too. I'd sure like to put one in the big Sho-Bud display I'm building for the world to see and share. The history of the instrument is what I'm trying to preserve.
Help! Anyone.

I think the picture that David Wright posted might have been of my guitar c. 1957. I had many pictures of Chuck's guitars from even before that date to when he stopped making them. Tom Bradshaw has all the many pictures I took and all the brochures. Many! |

Wow David, that predates my 63 Wright Custom but it sure takes me back in time. Somewhere I still have the letter your dad wrote to me with the price quote and it's still close to B0b's price range above. |

If Tom Bradshaw still has my file box of steel literature and pictures taken over many years, there are a bunch of Wright brochures and pictures - a bunch.
You listening, Dave W? |

I consider meeting and knowing Chuck personally years ago one of the highlights of playing the steel. He took me with him to his playing gig one night in Brisbane Ca back in the 60s and I felt very honored. He not only built them but he played them very well. I'm sorry that time and distance has broken that fellowship with him that I thoroughly enjoyed. |

First pedal steel I ever owned was a four neck Wright Custom in 1959. Chuck Wright was building the pedal steels in Red Bluff, California. I was living in Hayward, California at the time. Wrights Custom steels had by far one of the best tones I have ever had the pleasure of using. |
