Delay ?

Post by Thomas Cepek »

Hi ... I want to buy a delay pedal and want to choose between a Boss DD 3 and a Boss DD 7 .

Which one would be the best choice for pedalsteel in your opinion ?

Thanks in advance and kind regards, Thomas

I will probably be the exception Thomas, but I prefer the DD3 over the DD7

I like the RV3 better. They have Delay and Reverb with
a lot of adjustments and nice clean sound. The DD-20 is
super good with a digital display and it is programable.

I agree with John, however, the DD-7 has a tap delay feature if you are looking for that feature.

Delay

I use an MXR carbon copy delay that I like better than the DD3 never tried the 7 but the MXR is an analog delay which I find a lot warmer sound than the DD3 which is digital, just a thought...

Between the two of those, I would pick the DD-7 because it has tap temp, and can cover a lot more ground. When I had a DD-7 on my board I ended up mostly using it in the analog-voiced DM-2 mode (which will make it sound more like an analog delay). If all you want is simple crystal clear digital delay, then either will work for you. Basically it depends on what you want. If all you want is analog voiced delay and don't need tap tempo, then a carbon copy or dispatch master would probably be great. I have a Strymon Timeline now which is awesome but expensive.
