I will be in Nashville next week, Tuesday to Saturday Feb 11-14, and seek suggestions for music, esp. non pedal western swing!
Thanks

Try looking through the Nashville Scene's events page to see what's happening and where. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

I will be there too on Tuesday. Two acts you don't want to miss are Ike Jonson on thursday night at the Nashville Palace and Scott Icenogle on Tuesday night at Roberts Western World. Both play from 6 to 10 pm. Mike Sweeney normally plays steel for both. Ike only plays country music before 1963 and has a profound knowledge of country music and a killer band.
Scott has played bass for many old country stars, is a phenomenal vocalist, and has a fantastic band also. He is not to be missed.
Also there is a band at the station inn on Tuesday night that I have never head that sounds promising, The Nashville Doughboys.
Let me know if you will be at any of these places as I would love to say Hi
Non pedal steel is very commonly played at Roberts, but its somewhat hit or miss as to whether you will hear non pedal steel. Just about every place else I have been to in Nashville has pedal steel if any steel. There are some western swing bands at the Nashville Palace I have never heard. |

Darrell Criswell, the Doughboys have some videos on U-Tube. An old friend that I used to play with here in Cincinnati plays fiddle with them. If you go to see them tell Brandon Godman that Jerry Hedge says hi!!! |

Darrell, if you don't step on the pedals, could it be considered non pedal steel? |
