Here's my "Twangstar Reverb". It started life as a 65 Reissue TR. My friend John Pope completely rebuilt it, point to point, with some help from Lord Valve. It's got a blackface tonestack in the Vibrato channel, a tweed tonestack in the Normal channel, a half power switch and a multi ohm output transformer.
Since it got a complete makeover on the inside I recovered it with brown tolex, added a wheat grille, brown cupcake knobs and a custom brown faceplate (these go to 11). It is 1 louder.

Thanks Bill. Good eye! Also a good match with my 1958 Fender 1000. The suitcase is my vintage style Pak-a-Seat.
I chose the brown in remembrance of the old brown Fender Pro I had in high school (1973). I don't remember how I got it or where it went, but I was trading gear left and right. Back then nobody wanted those old amps - they didn't even have reverb. Nowadays I weep to see them come up and sell for $2500+ on ebay.

Nicely done! Killer combination of features. I really like the name too. I have a few 20/20 hind sight stories similar to the lost Pro. At least I still have my brown face Princeton - cosmetics just like your 'Twangstar'. That is my all time favorite look for an amp. You have excellent taste!Tim Whitlock wrote:Thanks Bill. Good eye! Me too! Speaking of blond/oxblood, here's one of my favorites:Dave Hopping wrote:...I'm partial to blonde/oxblood...
Its a '93 Dual Professional (the amp not the steel) from the Custom Shop. All P2P handwired, active eq, killer tremolo and reverb (dwell/mix/tone) into a pair of well worked in Vintage 30's. This one gets a lot of use!

I just can't help myself from revisiting this thread. Every one of the amps pictured within says so much about us. They are one more expressive and beautiful than the other. From the recreations of past times, to the current, modern and futuristic visions the owners want represented. I want them all. I want them now.

Amps
T C Furlong came out with a few combo style amp cabinets when he first started producing the splits. They were very "sharp" looking setups. The tolex is "Bruno brown" with cream colored stripes and gold trim piping. These would probably be termed "modular hybrids" today.
T C only made one, two rack space combo unit. I mounted a Sarno Classic tube preamp in it and a T C Electronics M one effects unit. I currently have a Telonics NEO 15" in the rig.
I purchased a total of three of his early on combo products, the amp pictured above, a 12" with Sarno Tonic preamp and a 15" with Sarno Tonic preamp. I still have all three.

Gah! Didn't realize new posts were coming in!Tony Palmer wrote:Wow the blue and white Jackson gets my top vote so far!
Funny I never even heard of them before.
Jackson seems to be pretty popular with the contemporary Christian rock bands. Though their FB page said that Jimmy Vivino (Conan show) is going to be using one.
If something I wrote can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, I meant the other one.
