Another great edition of Steel-In Tech. Oh man, I didn't get the Oklahoma Boot Block recorded this week, but this week the vibe feels right! Hehe...

Today's Lesson

Post by Joe Rouse »

Williams lesson today was great, as usual. He keeps me challenged and most of the time overwhelmed but with plenty to work on in my retirement years. Best 20 bucks a month I've spent in a long time...Thanks William and "THINK" Crazy Arms for our next workshop...CRAZY ARMS...jr

I think you'll dig it, RC. William's one of those guys that likes to get in there with it and help your specific situation. I see you got a couple nice classic steels. I sure do like the sound of the 6139.

Yes I do. I love the Bud. Been hauling it around for years. The Marrs is built like a fine watch but it's not a Bud.

The Bud is out getting restored and upgraded. I'll probably sell the Marrs after I get it back.

Welcome RC! I think you'll really enjoy William's lessons. He has some really neat techniques and song arrangements. And we all like the way he teaches. It's a great deal for the money.

On another note, who's restoring your Bud?

RC, I had hit a brick wall until I signed up. If you warm up and practice with the techniques and exercises and then apply the worksheets with the tracks he provides and plays each week(that'll keep you honest) you'll be well on your way. Give yourself a little time each day, or a whole lot of time if you don't mind the house falling down around you like me.

Last weeks technique exercises were really good. One of them really had you working the second string that's a string I don't normally use. The other technique exercises were also very helpful. Looking forward to this weeks exercises.

Starting next Saturday, William says we'll be working on 'Sing Me Back Home' as the project tune. This is going to be great.

Hey RC, I just noticed your signature line. My wife the other day mentioned, "that's sounding good", when passing by the music room. I think of all the early mornings she had to put up with me learning these steel guitar moves-painstakingly out of tune and hopeless sounding, worrying that Dunlop bar while I tried to learn. In the beginning, closing the door as she passed by was a good enough hint, but she never said anything negative, and she didn't gripe about the extra expenses, either. Glad to say the door's been staying open the last few months, so I must finally be fooling her! But I think of all the guys who don't have that luxury of having a supportive woman, no matter the endeavor, and your signature reminded me of that.

This week's lesson was another good one. I really like the Emmons intro. William is a great player and shows how to do the hard and interesting parts. For only $5 a week you can not beat it.

Richard I have to agree. For 5 Bucks a session William is teaching Technique Exercises with work sheets to improve your playing, a Intro with Tab
and also a project tune with tab. I call that a bargain anywhere in the world.
