I have noticed that the standard a6 tuning E,C#,A,F#,E,C#,A,F# (HI - LOW) repeat the V,III,I VI pattern while the c6 substitutes a IV (F) on the 8th string instead of a second VI.

(PS.. this is on the 8 string fender)

Any particular advantage one way or the other (other than probably more tabs in C6 than in A6)

The F bass string on C6th gives you the obvious FMaj7 chord, but more important for blues is the F9 chord you get with the pedal that lowers E to Eb.

The A6th tuning is included in the C6th pedal copedent by using various pedals and levers. Everything that was done in the non-pedal era on A6th can be duplicated on a C6th pedal steel with the C to C# knee lever (now standard).
