My father's passing...Wes Hamshaw

Post by Laura Hamshaw Baron »

Hey there everybody. I just wanted to make a quick post to those who knew my dad. My father loved steel guitars. He started in High School in Spokane, and played throughout his life. He was good, and boy did he ever love them. I know my father was on this site a lot during the last few years of his life: he really became quite a collector it appears. Anyway, I just wanted to let folks know, and to thank you for being friend - albeit online - to my dad. I know he really enjoyed talking with all of you. Thank you. Dad passed last December, 2013. He would want me to tell you to keep playing those steels and and to keep country music going. :) Thanks. -Laura

Laura, thank you for such a nice note. Losing a parent is hard and losing a steel player from our family of friends is a loss too. Thank you for sharing this about your Dad.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Laura. I never met your dad in person, but I was lucky enough to buy a beautiful Carter pedal steel from him, which I still own and play. The deal came together without a hitch, as was his custom.

My condolences to you and your family.
