Here's some video of Bobby's last performance, at the benefit in April, for those that didn't get to see it.

One of the sweetest people to walk the planet. Ken's right, the Jamboree won't be the same without him.

Thanks for posting that Stephen. It is very emotional to see and hear him under the circumstances. The man just loved steel guitar about as much as one can.

I will miss Bobby as I use to talk to him on the Steel Guitar Chat room with Ray walker and a lot of other steel player. Rest in Peace Bobby. I'll bet he and Ray walker are playing Steel Guitar together now.

You will be missed brother

I heard about Bobby's passing while on the road, he was a mentor and good friend , I will be sad to think that we will never be able to speak again.
Every once and while God puts people on this earth that have a heart of gold and Bobby was a prime example of this, I have recently joined back with Hank Williams III and would like to dedicate the rest of the tour and every night I play on stage to this great man.

As Bobby would say" See you around baby"

I will miss my dear friend so much. Never met a kinder heart in my life. Bobby loved life and lit up any room he came into. Always there to help me out when I had a question or concern. Always concerned about others, willing to talk anytime and help out in any way he could.

May you rest in peace and I know I will see you again in our Father's home.

I remember a few years ago Bobby sent me two MSA pick ups and would not hear about me paying for them, I wonder how many have been treated so well by this wonderful man.

Thanks Bobby RIP and put some pedals on that harp.

Their memories are freshened through remembrance.
Long live their memory! You'll certainly be remembered for years to come! By many!
If it's a penny for your thoughts!!!

We were playing in Houston this weekend and, driving past the Fry Rd. off ramp on I-10, I thought of my old pal and how this was the exit to his house in Cypress... :(

Herb,

I live off Fry Road south of I10. Tony Wilcox and me were talking just last week about how much we miss Bobby. Nobody could fix a pedal steel like he could. Anybody heard from his wife lately?

Allen, I spoke to Toni a couple weeks ago. She's fine, sounded cheerful. She still lives at the Cypress house and seems to be coping well. Her bosses are angels for cutting her the slack she needed to care for Bobby in his last months.

God speed Sir.
I join the community to mourn your passing and celebrate your life.

As usual I'm having to play catch-up on who the movers and shakers are in the world of steel.

Would like to know what Bobby's idea of "mother of unborn linoleum" looks like, his reference to his first steel.

I still miss my best friend, confident, and advisor more than anyone could ever imagine. I still catch myself opening my phone to tell him something or ask something. We played a lot together, and he visited here often. I live in the Arbuckle Mountains of
So. Oklahoma, and I can still see him sitting in the sunroom overlooking the valley watching the deer or turkeys or whatever varmint happened to be there. He came here to get away from it all and relax. He loved all his friends and he had more than the law allows!! Traveling with Bobby was a trip, cause if you stopped to eat, or gas up, he'd know everyone there before you left!!! I'm one of many that is a much better person for having that friendship with him. Bobby, I miss you, and love you dearly!!!!!
PS. There's chocolate milk in the fridge waiting for you!

I ran into Toni, Bobby's wife today and sat down next to her and we chatted for a while it was great to see her.I got up to leave so I told her I loved her as Bobby was a mentor and a steel mechanics teacher to me as well.As I got up to leave I took about twenty steps and felt this amazing feeling of calm and peace that you know someone you love is with you that is no longer on earth bodily. I sure miss Bobby bad but I know he was with me today not a doubt in my mind.I love you BB!

There are a lot of great people on this earth, but Bobby was very special in his 'Own Peculiar Way", as Willie would say. He had an infectious smile and never met a stranger.
I still have his name in my computer and on my phone. Just can't make myself take them off of either.
You know how I miss you my friend.
