This one came out very nice for my friend Dick Green. Custom long knee levers. New undercarriage for upgrade to Pro II style. What a sweet guitar it is now!! And tone to the bone!!

The second picture has a weird reflection that showed up on the endplate--it's only on the picture.

Dick, I appreciate your patience on a long project, through illness and issues.

That's a gorgeous guitar! I have an old Professional that's been sitting in its case since I got my push pull. I'd like to have that done to it one day. Those old Buds are sweet!

Thankyou for the kind words, everyone. I designed all the undercarriage parts to improve on the old, yet to not lose the look of originality.

I have yet new designs coming in the future, to take these "old Shobuds" to a new level of reliability and playability. Stay tuned!

Nope. It belongs to a good friend of mine that is wanting to start re-learning after a 30 - 40 year hiatus. I'll be giving him lessons. I posted a video one time of me in a band playing "Someone Had To Teach You". Dick is the badass bass player in the video.

One thing I really like about your work James is that you don't install an ANGLED KNEE LEVER in the undercarriage the way Sho-Bud did with their designs. That was something I never cared for.

That was one of the things I really liked about the Buds. I thought it was more comfortable when hitting that lever at the angle that our leg hits it. If they would have done that with the Super Pro, I probably wouldn't have broken 3 lever brackets. But it probably will be OK with the teardrop levers (which I think look great, but I never liked them. All the guitars I played with them, the bottom part of the lever always hit my leg. The longer levers that James put on this guitar would have alleviated the problem I had with the teardrops).

I'm really getting excited about seeing this guitar in "person".

Actually Nick, the picture is a little deceiving--I always angle the LKL. If you look closer, you can see the LKL is angled. I really like that about the early Shobuds for the player's comfort.

Richard, maybe you can help Dick get the guitar dialed in to fit him perfectly. He will need to get the pedals set to his comfort, as well as the knee levers. Holler at me with any questions.

No problem James. I had a Professional one time. It's pretty easy to dial in. I will help Dick as much as possible. Even help him with lessons. He helped me out when I was having a real run of bad luck, so it's the very least I can do for him.

You did a beautiful job. As soon as he gets it, I will be on the road to go see it. I'm really excited about this.

Richard, the LKL and the vertical adjust by screwing in/out the connecting rods. The RKR, RKL, and LKR have an allen screw adjuster in the slot of the knee lever for adjustment, something I incorporated years ago.

The RKR knee lever has a long throw, as it drops the second string from D#-D-C#, as well as C to B on string 3 on the C6 neck--four changes for RKR.

The RKL has a long throw, too, as it has six changes--On E9 neck, it raises F#-G-G# on the 1st string, and D#-E on the 2nd string, as well as string 6 does G#-G. On the C6 neck, RKL raises string one from G-G#; string 4 from A-Bb; string 8 from A-Bb. I use feel stops. Notice to, on the vertical and RKL stops, I incorporated "thumb wheels" and springs. Let me know what ya'll think of them.
