Any comments? Suppose you machined your own custom end plates. Could you make leg sockets? Or just have some standard size sockets made and tack welded in?
And as far as legs, would stainless be a good alternative to chrome?
I'm talking about custom, 1 guitar at a time as if you were building for yourself.
What would you do? |

I'd leave big squares at the corners, and have ½X13 holes tapped in them.

If I were ever going to make endplates, the leg holes would be like the old Fenders, where the threads were recessed well into the endplate. This makes it considerably easier to put the leg on, and also gives superior strength and reduces wear on the thread leads. 
Evidently, many of the best builders out there haven't been exposed to Leo's best idea.  |

You are very correct Donny. A 3/4 in. X 10 thread is very strong & stable.
