I mentioned this in the Sneaky Pete picture thread and then decided to search it out and re-post here.

Wayne,
It's tough but my all time ten favorite pedal steel players are:
Jimmy Day
Jay Dee Manus
Ralph Mooney
Sneaky Pete
Walter Haynes
Lloyd Green
Jimmy Crawford
Tom Brumley
Curly Chalker
John Hughey

The non-pedal players or the players that have influence my playing most are:
Roy Wiggins, Jerry Byrd, Speedy West, Leon McAuliffe, Billy Bowman, Jimmy Day, Joaquin Murphy, Walter Haynes, Bobby Koeffer, and Noel Boggs.

Bill,

I like both your lists. For me, I would add:

Pedal Steel.....
Bobbe Seymour
Terry Crisp
Paul Franklin

Non Pedal......
Bobbe Seymour
Jody Carver
Santo Farina

These players influenced me tremendously.

Ahh yes, but one could go on & on, eh? It's kinda like Apples & Oranges. However, I don't think Mr. Emmons would ever disclose his favorites. TX

Rgds,

Ron

Ron, look again at my post. It is not my list. It is a direct quote from Buddy from March 2000 on this very forum!

If Buddy had to make a list now, fifteen years later, I wonder if it would change at all..
