So I bought a few different brands of finger picks to try out, and I found out I like the ProPik. I've read a lot of threads about picks falling off, so I tried a couple of things, and this is what worked well for me. First I used blue painter's tape to mask off the area I didn't want to spray. Then I held the taped end with plyers and applied the spray. Then I used a small jewelers screw driver to punch thru the holes. They have a pretty nice feel. Just a little bit sticky with minimal material added to the thickness. Here is what I used and a few picks of the finished picks. Let me know what you think.

No problems with peeling, yet. But it's only been a week and I've only played with them once so far...haven't had much playing time with Christmas just around the corner. I should be able to play for several hours this weekend, so we'll see how they hold up.

Jack, I can actually send you a pair of Dunlop .020's. That was the first ones I tried. If it didn't turn out well, I didn't want to mess up my ProPiks. lol
So let me know if you're serious and I'll get them in the mail on Monday or Tuesday.

Robert, If they peel off, try bead blasting the area before you coat. BF

I have been watching the advertisement on TV where the guy sprays the screen door in the bottom of the boat and it seals and floats. I been wondering if it would work to coat picks with. Looks like this is similar spray and works great for you. Thanks for the Tip and your experiments.

I use either National or JF picks. Mostly JF's and never have a problem with them coming off. I do have a set of Pro, but the gauge is a little light for me.

Good question Roger, and thanks for the reminder about the concern. I checked the MSDS and I've copied and pasted the part on Hazard Identification:

2. Hazard Identification

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW:
Extremely flammable liquid and vapor. Vapors may cause flash fire or explosion. Harmful if inhaled.
May affect the brain or nervous system causing dizziness, headache or nausea. Contents Under Pressure. May cause eye, skin, or
respiratory tract irritation. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Harmful if inhaled. Harmful if swallowed. Causes eye irritation.
Use ventilation necessary to keep exposures below recommended exposure limits, if any. Vapor Harmful. Causes Eye, Skin, Nose,
and Throat Irritation.

EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE
-
EYE CONTACT:
Causes Serious Eye Irritation

EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE
-
SKIN CONTACT:
May cause skin irritation. Allergic reactions are possible.

EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE
-
INHALATION:
High gas, vapor, mist or dust concentrations may be harmful if inhaled. High
vapor concentrations are irritating to the eyes, nose, throat and lungs. Harmful if inhaled. Avoid breathing fumes, spray, vapors, or
mist. Prolonged or excessive inhalation may cause respiratory tract irritation.

EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE
-
INGESTION:
Harmful if swallowed.

EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE
-
CHRONIC HAZARDS:
Overexposure to xylene in laboratory animals has been associated with
liver abnormalities, kidney, lung, spleen, eye and blood damage as well as reproductive disorders. Effects in humans, due to chronic
overexposure, have included liver, cardiac abnormalities and nervous system damage. IARC lists Ethylbenzene as a possible
human carcinogen (group 2B). May cause central nervous system disorder (e.g., narcosis involving a loss of coordination,
weakness, fatigue, mental confusion, and blurred vision) and/or damage. Reports have associated repeated and prolonged
occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage. High concentrations may lead to central
nervous system effects (drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, headaches, paralysis, and blurred vision) and/or damage.

PRIMARY ROUTE(S) OF ENTRY:
Eye Contact, Ingestion, Inhalation, Skin Absorption, Skin Contact.
_____________________________________________________

The MSDS doesn't define "overexposure", but I'm guessing that it is refering to "if sprayed directly on your skin". We'll see what happens after I play a 4 hour gig.
