In case you haven't seen the threads in Our Extended Family, James Morehead is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. James and Tree told me it would be OK if I extended the reach of her "Update" post about the benefit in OKC Sunday December 14th.
The local musicians have planned a benefit for us this Sunday the 14th starting at 2:00 pm. It is to be held at the Imperial Banquet Hall at 4701 S. Shields in Oklahoma City for those that would like to stop by and say howdy. They have 5 bands lined up for entertainment. There will also be a food vendor there so everyone will be able to get a good meal while they listen to some excellent music.
The bands will be: Byron McKedy-James has played with them for 5 years but will sit this one out. The Bands playing the benefit are: "The Stockyard Playboys", "The Good Ole Boys", "Mountain Smoke", and "Midwest Tragedy". James and I are looking forward to seeing everyone. It will be nice to get out for something besides a Dr. visit. Anyone in the area, please drop by.
Yes, A snail mail address would be good. I am sorry but I have other commitments and will not be able to be their. Best of luck James and I will keep you in my prayers. J.R.
James and I would like to thank everyone that participated in the benefit. It was a fantastic time with some awesome music and great friends. The love that was shown to us was wonderful. We truly appreciate each and everyone. It was hard to be there and have James unable to play with the band he has been a part of for over 3 years. They got along just fine without him. HMMMM that might not be a good thing:)
He was extremely tired on Monday but the memories that we were sharing made the day better.
Thanks again to all the musicians that gave their time and talents to keep everyone entertained. Some of these fellas started out as strangers to us but left as near and dear to our hearts.
Our good friend Ernie Sheltry was the organizer and did alot of this work while physically sick himself.
I will never be able to give enough hugs to these guys and the wives that pitched in to help keep things moving so I could enjoy the show. And the food was awesome. Pulled pork and pulled turkey that melted in your mouth. Oh my. Some satisfaction there for sure.
Thanks again to all who have sent donations to us via the mail and paypal. You too are in our hearts and prayers of blessings that have been bestowed on us.
