We don't all live up to the songs we write. Is it true that Dickey once hit his wife after she flushed a pound of coke down the toilet? If true, what should he have done to make up for it?

Poll ended at 28 Nov 2014 8:25 am

Promised to write 5 more songs as good as "Blue Sky."

Here's a version of Dickey Betts's Blue Sky I ran across from a trio gig I did a while back. Unfortunately the recording's a little quiet. You might need headphones to hear the bass player if listening on a computer.

David, that was awesome. Loved the tone and the solo you played. very guitar like quality to the tone which is weird because i always thought they were trying to mimic a pedal steel on the record so there you go mimcking a guitar mimicking a steel.

That's the best thing I've heard in ages! A trio with PSG. Amazing task to emulate Dickie Betts licks!

I voted 'Stop pickin'...' but I mean don't stop picking!
This is a great rendition with the fluid steelin' in the middle.
Emulation is the best revenge, whether Dickie did it or not.

I love the song and your rendition of it, Dave. Good job. But the poll kind of sucks. I hate the stereotype of rock musicians as wife-beating coke fiends, even when it's true. :(

I like The Allman Brothers' music. Their lifestyle, not so much.
