Jerry, it's not intrusion at all, you are right, no gimmicks on these guitars, no flashy, fancy nonsense, just quality, and tone..wonderful guitars, over the years I learn to respect and admire Mr. Carters craftsmanship, and ingenuity ..Jerry Roller wrote:I have one just like it, love the Magnum! It plays and sounds wonderful. Pardon my intrusion.

got one, love it, had a Canadian picker tell me he thought I was playing an old push pull before he got a look at the axe!

Re: Sd10 Magnum
Ed, my first Magnum was SD-10, and when I looked at it, I was not impressed, until I started playing it, and heard the tone... I've been a fan of Magnum and other Bud Carter guitars ever since...Ed Kelly wrote:got one, love it, had a Canadian picker tell me he thought I was playing an old push pull before he got a look at the axe!

If anyone cares to do a search of my past statements here on the Forum concerning my feelings toward the Magnum guitars you will get a sense of just how much I value them. I think the Magnum is very much under rated. All you need to do is to play one. The black with aluminum powdercoat has the appearance of a hotrod sorta like a black Mustang GT. It is an all business guitar. I normally leave my black Magnum at my Church and play it there. I have played it at the Steel Shows and would be comfortable playing it anywhere. It is also as simple to change pulls on as any guitar. Easy removeable spring clips to hold pull rods in place and 12 hole bellcranks that are easy to move around.

I totally agree Jerry, Magnums are the best bang for the buck and these guitars have an awesome C6th tone and of course, E9th is great too. Very well made, easy to change set ups and they play like silk. I did a recording session with mine and was awed by the tone I got in studio. And by the way, black even sounds better.

Magnum
Nice steel, this one must be lighter than the standard Carter because of the aluminum parts. For myself if I would buy it and it would be a keeper I would probably get in touch with Al Brisco and get a price on Chrome legs and Pedal Bar and maybe the end plates.IT is a nice guitar and right color

I like the looks of the guitar just the way it is,it would be cheaper to buy a fancier guitar then changing all those parts on this one...this is a players guitar, plays and sounds great, I never cared much about the cosmetics of my guitars, weight, tone and playability was my first priority, playing the bars and clubs I realized that nobody cared about what my guitar looked or sounded like, so my first thing was making sure it plays good, fast and smooth, and that is easy to carry and move around, and everything else was not too important to me...
