Hi fellow steel Players
I have a friend who has a TCA 500 Telonics amp that is about a year old. He has to sell it as he gave up on trying to learn pedal steel. He wants $500 for it. Can anyone tell me if this is a good amp to buy. I don't know what he paid for it but I may buy it if it's a good amp.
Thanks

Telonics is well-known for top-quality gear, and for similar prices.
I want to say he paid thrice that.
It'll be a FAR better amp than you can get elsewhere for the same money.
Notice how few get sold second hand. Been on the market since Feb and NO used sales here. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

That is way too cheap if it is a telonics 500. _________________ Die with Memories. Not Dreams.
Good Stuff like Zum S-12, Wolfe Resoport
MSA SS-12, Telonics Combo. |

Dennis, it launched in February, so it's not even a year old. If you like Solid state, I doubt you'll find better. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Dennis,
Here is a link to one site which provides information on the TCA-500 Professional Combo Amplifier, click on "combo downloads" for the actual Usage and Instruction Manual. Although the manual listed is not completely up to date (particularly regarding the remote control unit), it is adequate for your purpose:
http://tpa-az.com/
We track CTN/Serial Numbers if you can obtain it and care to have additional information.
The actual cost to produce this unit is actually substantially greater than thrice what your friend is asking.
To say that such an offer is "unusual” would be quite an understatement.
