Who's still giging with a push-pull?
Who out there still uses their old Emmons push-pulls on gigs instead of newer guitars? Why?

I do, because it does what I want it to do. I like the sound of it, the ease of playing, the mechanical dependability. I do not use it exclusively, though. I gig all of my steels regularily, because I like variation. I decide quite spontaneously which steel I take with me. For studio work the choice of guitar depends on the kind of music I'm supposed to play. I have taken as many as three steels to a studio date.
I like "that" sound, but it's not the only sound I like.

I still gig with my 64 Emmons, as does Jim Loessberg with his 65, Bobby Flores with his 65, and Dicky Overbey with his 66.
Since I enjoy other horns too, I also gig with my Fessenden as well as my Bigsby and my PA Reissue.

I returned to Emmons p/p's in October 2002 and have played a S12 with 7p/4k setup as a universal up until late December 2003. At that time a blond lacquer D10 with 8p/5k joined the "arsenal". Love'm both. Thanks to forumites Tommy Cass for the S12 and Chuck McGill for the D10. And a HUGE thank-you to my good friend Bobby Bowman for makin' both of 'em play like a dream.

New guy alert,
I finally went towards the light after seeing Robert Earl Keen this New Years at Gruene Hall and stood right up by his PSG player Marty Muse and paid close attention to what he was playing, playing on, and playing through(Blackface Twin) and he was wailing on a P/P Emmons (I didn't know at the time what a Emmons P/P was and frankly didn't care)
Told my wife right(had to yell in ear) then "that's it,that does it, I gotta get me one of those!",and 2 weeks later I did, didn't know what I was geeting into

When I get it somewhat figured out I'll be playing it out with the boyz on a couple of tunes only because I don't know any better
